Summary

In a sleep laboratory, healthy young women listened to a short hypnosis recording with the suggestion to 'sleep deeper' before a nap, and on another occasion to a neutral control recording.

In the women who were highly suggestible, the hypnosis recording increased deep, restorative slow-wave sleep by 81% and cut time spent awake by about 67%.

Key finding

81% more slow-wave sleep and 67% less time awake, from a single recorded suggestion.

Why this matters

Your nervous system responds to suggestion even in sleep. It's one reason we use hypnosis audios between sessions.
